What is heraldry?
Heraldry is about showing people who you are, especially across a distance – like a battlefield. In the SCA, we use these for much the same reason – registering devices (this is me) and badges (this is mine) to individuals and households.
Heraldry has its own, unique set of rules and language.
| Heraldic Name | Modern Color |
| Or | Gold/Yellow |
| Argent | Silver/White |
| Azure | Blue |
| Gules | Red |
| Purpure | Purple |
| Sable | Black |
| Vert | Green |
You can see examples of my device and badge below and their blazons (official descriptions), if you are interested in learning more, visit heraldry.sca.org.
